Ralph Vaessen è il brand dell’omonimo designer olandese che nel 2006 lascia la sua professione nel settore pubblico per realizzare il suo progetto: occhiali (mega) premium. Fatti a mano in un piccolo atelier in Germania, i Ralph Vaessen presentano design classici anni ‘70 e ‘80 per una collezione completa che comprende sia occhiali da sole che occhiali da vista. Ma la caratteristica fondamentale della sua produzione è il materiale con cui vengono realizzate tutte le montature: corna di bufalo, a volte in combinazione con legno o pelle di serpente.
Pare che il corno, opportunamente lavorato, sia leggero e molto più confortevole del calssico “acetato”, anche se poi il prezzo è direttamente proporzionale a tutte queste caratteristiche esagerate.
