Dolce & Gabbana is set to release some fine eyewear from their Gold Edition, just in time for the holidays. One pair reminds us of a Dita Cazal collaboration from about a year ago. The piping on these are slick along with the other gold lining. Will they be on my dresser in the next few weeks? For 90,000 Yen (over 1000 USD), probably not. They’re still great to look at.

Brad Pitt’s New Tom Ford Shades

Those new aviator shades Brad Pitt’s been sporting lately are by his favorite designer Tom Ford, naturally. The decadent designer’s Pablo model is actually two pairs of sunglasses in one. One set of lenses fits right into the metal frame and the other set sits in plastic inserts. The Pablo is an evolution of an earlier Ford design as worn by Daniel Craig; these are much better proportioned and actually a fine fit for both men and women. The sunglass history buffs at Eyegoodies, where the Pablo can be purchased for $450 a pair, note the influence of an old (1970’s) Ted Lapidus aviator with the plastic inserts in, and the Porsche Design Aviators from the 1980’s with the plastic inserts out. The Pablo comes in three colors: gold / light havana (pictured above), gunmetal / dark havana, and gold /black.

Mosley Tribes’ newest shades in several frame styles are combining less traditional lens colors and frame in a slightly light and airy look. This Los Angeles-based co. is pushing some design boundaries and still managing to keep their looks clean and modern, which means “classic in the making” material right here. Stand-out designs include the Becker, at top.

Aekae SIRE Sunglasses

Design studio Aekae, based in London and Zurich, have released a collection of glasses hand-crafted from natural water buffalo horns. The eyewear range, entitled SIRE, consists of three pairs of correctional frames and three pairs of sunglasses, with each piece made from several thin layers of horn. In a collaboration with eyewear manufacturers Swisshorn Eyewear, Aekae’s exquisite SIRE glasses are currently being displayed at the SILMO Eyewear and Optics Exhibition in Paris.
