The new Bell & Ross BR 01-92 Compass watch takes its inspiration from aircraft cockpits. For this model, the method for reading time is also inspired from the compass navigational tool. Time on the BR 01 Compass is displayed by a fixed mark under which the hours and minute numbers file past. The dial is comprised of two independent concentric discs with 12 hour and 60 minutes graduations, respectively. A vertical white line under the crystal is used to tell the time by reading the large hour numeral and the small minute number from the top down. Swiss watchmakers Bell & Ross channel the spirit of their history with the release of this vintage collection, based on classic timepieces from the golden age of aviation. This year Chopard celebrates their 150th anniversary and Alfa Romeo celebrates their 100th anniversary, so they’ve decided to team up and collaborate on a set of clocks. Chopard is releasing 3 of these clocks in order to celebrate this achievement, one wristwatch, one desk clock, and one travel clock. These pieces are limited to 500 of each, and will be releasing by the end of 2010.

Pininfarina, known for their auto designs with Ferari, Alfa Romeo, Maserati, and more have turned to the watch realm to create the Bovet Ottana Tourbillon. This new timepiece, which can also be attributed to Pininfarina’s auto designs, features an intricate Calibre 16BA01 movement making up of at least 514 parts, with most crafted from brass. All these parts are housed inside a jumbo 46mm case, available in either DLC-coated steel and titanium or titanium with white or rose gold.

New York’s Rogan serve up an interesting and ironic accessory with their Timeless Watch. Fashioned after a classically styled watch, the ironic element is the fact that the accessory is without an actual time telling mechanism and serves only as an ornamental piece.

Much of U-Boat inspirations are derived from the world of innovative engineering ranging from racing cars and fighter planes. Last year, U-Boat had created their U-1942 watch based on a concept originally created by U-Boat founder Italo Fontana’s grandfather who had pitched the watch idea to the Italian military in 1942. The U-1942 case measured in at a massive 65mm. However this year, U-Boat offer a toned down version of the U-1942 with the unveiling of the U-42. A 53mm casing places the U-42 in the same range as conventional U-Boat offerings with a titanium case body ensuring that in the case of an inevitable knock, the watch will be sure to come away relatively unscathed. Other notable elements and characteristics are the left-sided crown system and a waterproof rating to 300 meters. The watch will release in a run of less that 999 pieces with a suggested retail price of $7,000 USD.

The brand 4N was born from the desire to create a simple digital display and propose a mechanical alternative to analogue timepieces with moving hands.  The name of the brand is derived from the English “4 numbers”, which refers to the four digits on a digital counter which represents the tens of hours, hours, tens of minutes and minutes.  4N is positioned on the modern luxury watch market.  4N has a modern image with a mechanical touch, and gets back to the basics of watchmaking.  Its timepieces will be produced in limited edition with 16 (42) versions of each model.
