Taking place in the backstage of the runway, Maison Martin Margiela put forth an outerwear-heavy collection for the Fall/Winter 2011 season. Working with 1970s inspirations, the house once again proved why it is one of the most sought-after labels in fashion today. The ability to maintain some semblance of tradition with the iconic MMM touch was all too apparent with various amounts of re-appropriation.

We’ve heard about Ralph Lauren’s extensive car collection but have never really seen it in its full glory. Vanity Fair did a great job writing about Uncle Ralph’s range of Ferraris, Vintage Bugattis, Mercedes-Benzs, Alfa Romeos and more. The cars are displayed in museum style in his garage called the D.A.D., the initials standing for Mr. Lauren’s children – David, Andrew, and Dylan. The collection is somewhat comparable to the Barnes collection of paintings in Merion, Pennsylvania. The collective of cars are grand, rare, and highly coveted. It’s something that the whole world should see, but is kept under Ralph Lauren’s privacy. Thanks to Vanity Fair writer Paul Goldberger and Photographer Todd Eberle, we now get a good sense of one of the most iconic clothes designer’s collection of rare cars.

With all the talk this week surrounding the future of Raf Simons namesake brand, the show still went ahead, word is however that having cancelled all showroom appointments this collection will not go into production. Lets hope the situation sorts itself out and this isn’t the last time we see this Fall/Winter collection.

Moncler’s Gamme Blue runway is one of the better presentations in menswear season to season. To many it is a complete standout which remains very focused in the designer’s vision. The look is clear – when you view the collection, you understand it to be Thom Browne’s work based on his usual use of greys, but do expect more. Color – red and green for starters –  surrounds the collection through accents and at times trousers, hunting tops, and more. The sad pup above is just upset he didn’t get fitted.

Louis Vuitton recently drop a set of videos that give us some detailed insight into the Men’s Spring/Summer 2011 Collection. We get an opportunity to check out famed tattooist and artist Scott Campbell in his New York creative universe and then again when he heads to discover the Louis Vuitton universe in Paris, in the Maison de Famille in Asnières and the Atelier. This season is embodied by Scott Campbell, who also collaborated on the runway collection presented back in June 2010 in Paris.
