While we cover our fair share of leather bags from a number of major fashion brands, its always great to see the talented independent work steal the spotlight. Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, father and son team, Nik and Jack Palmer have created Palmer and Sons, a leather accessory studio where they produce, prototype, and hand-build each and every item they sell. Their latest style is an absolutely stunning Gladstone weekender crafted in 10 oz Havana Brown leather that’s accented with brass rivets, substantial metal hardware, and handmade Cocobolo and Ebony top rails. You can also work with them to customize a number of the bag’s elements from the type of leather used, linings, straps, and much more.

Openers Japan has a feature on the Lanvin Tokyo Flagship that includes a look at their 120th anniversary tote bag. This one is a beauty with deep grey leather placed with the signature Lanvin logo. The details come through in a deep red leather handle strap and zip reinforcement. The tote is limited to 20 units – short run for this market. Good luck.

If you’re going to rock Porter goods, go big. Like “Tanker” big. Iconic whiskey makers Johnnie Walker have teamed up with the leather craftsmen at Bill Amber Studio to create a limited edition bag collection. The centerpiece of the line is the “Weekender” (pictured above), a duffel handcrafted in dark navy calf and saddle leather with perforated detailing. The bag also comes with a removable carrier designed to carry a bottle of Johnnie Walker which is also included with the bag. Link: $280-$1,980

For this Fall, Louis Vuitton adds some details to their men’s bag line. The most prominent is the black leather piping and detailing which accentuate the monogram a bit, and make these bags more than simple clones of their female counterparts. Our favorite of the collection would be the soccer inspired weekender (seen above) with the patch leather work. Almost makes the weekender worthy of a kick around the field.
