Design studio Aekae, based in London and Zurich, have released a collection of glasses hand-crafted from natural water buffalo horns. The eyewear range, entitled SIRE, consists of three pairs of correctional frames and three pairs of sunglasses, with each piece made from several thin layers of horn. In a collaboration with eyewear manufacturers Swisshorn Eyewear, Aekae’s exquisite SIRE glasses are currently being displayed at the SILMO Eyewear and Optics Exhibition in Paris.

Fatti a mano in un piccolo atelier in Germania, i Ralph Vaessen presentano design classici anni ‘70 e ‘80 per una collezione completa che comprende sia occhiali da sole che occhiali da vista. Ma la caratteristica fondamentale della sua produzione è il materiale con cui vengono realizzate tutte le montature: corna di bufalo, a volte in combinazione con legno o pelle di serpente.
Pare che il corno, opportunamente lavorato, sia leggero e molto più confortevole del calssico “acetato”, anche se poi il prezzo è direttamente proporzionale a tutte queste caratteristiche esagerate.
